Materials Girl is actually a real person, me. Sarah. I’m a graduate student at North Carolina State University. I know, NY, what a liar. But I started this when I was living in NYC, where I’ve been for the last 6 years. So ha! Anyway, I love Materials, and that’s about the crux of the matter. I have come to this in a round about way, first pursuing a BFA in theatrical design from NYU, then working at Mood Fabrics for two years. During this time two gentleman from, I believe, Pratt architecture came into the shop and we discussed textiles in construction applications. Thanks two random dudes! This somehow lead me to try to get an internship at Material ConneXion. Thanks for the advice Dr. Kachatoorian! And for some reason they said ok. Thanks Sherry and Matt! Then I applied to NSCU’s college of textiles, and for some reason they also said ok. Thanks Dr. Seyam! So, that’s me.
